Before you can connect your own Laptop or Tablet to the School's WiFi, you need to download and complete the following form and bring it to the office.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Use Agreement Form
To the student and parent/legal guardian/caregiver, please:

1.     Read this page carefully to check that you understand your responsibilities under this agreement.
2.     Sign the appropriate section on this form and return this form to the school office.
3.     You will be provided with a photocopy to retain for future reference.

We understand that South Westland Area School will:
  • Do its best to keep the school cybersafe, by maintaining an effective cybersafety programme. This includes working to restrict access to inappropriate, harmful or illegal material on the Internet or school ICT equipment/devices at school or at school-related activities, and enforcing the cybersafety rules and requirements detailed in use agreements.
  • SWAS accepts no responsibility for loss or damage of any kind to your device while it is located on our site or connected to our network.

Section for student

 My responsibilities include:
  • I will abide by the SWAS Cybersafety Use Agreement  and this BYOD Use Agreement
  • I will follow the cybersafety rules whenever I use my device on the school site or at any school-related activity, regardless of its location.
  • I will only use the device for school related work while it is on the school site or at any school-related activity, regardless of its location.
  • I will ensure that appropriate Antivirus Software is installed on my device.
  • BEFORE I leave SWAS (i.e I am no longer enrolled as a student), I agree to allow the school’s ICT co-ordinator to remove any software which was installed on my device by the school to allow my device to connect to the school server or internet.
  • I will avoid any involvement with material or activities which could put at risk my own safety, or the privacy, safety or security of the school or other members of the school community
 
If I breach this BYOD Use Agreement, I understand that I (and my parent/legal guardian/caregiver) may be liable for the financial costs incurred by the school to rectify any damage caused by a virus or other malware that my device may have introduced onto the schools server or ICT equipment.

Please note: This agreement will remain in force as long as your child is enrolled at this school. If it becomes necessary to add/amend any information or rule, parents will be advised in writing.
